if it is not close to either can you please tell were to look recognise itIs the constellation leo the lion closer to the 'southern cross' or 'orions belt'?Leo is much closer to Orion than it is to the Southern Cross. You will have a tough time finding Orion now, since its apparent position is close to the Sun and it is therefore washed out by daylight. However, if you look in the western sky just after sunset, you can still see Leo tilting down toward the horizon. He will set shortly after the Sun. Early next year, it will be easy to see Leo in the evening not too far east from Orion. Is the constellation leo the lion closer to the 'southern cross' or 'orions belt'?well, on a star map showing both the sky for northern and southern people, the distance is quite almost the same. The Cross is some 80 deg. downwards, Orion is 80 deg. to the west.
To see the Lion and the Cross, you must already stand from the equator on or beneath that.
So suggesting the most people live in northern part of Earth, it shall be easier to find Leo a long distance to the East from Orion, like evenings around February are the best.Is the constellation leo the lion closer to the 'southern cross' or 'orions belt'?Leo is much closer to Orion. See here for a very simple map: http://www.cinemashop.com/images/nu/cons鈥?/a>
Projected on the Earth, if Leo was were Florida is, then Orion would lie in Spain and the Southern Cross in Antarctica. Is the constellation leo the lion closer to the 'southern cross' or 'orions belt'?
It is closer to Orion's belt. If you do not know what the constellation looks like, you will find it very difficult to recognise.
