Can't make out star chart, looking for constellation Scorpio?

I'm at lat. 33掳 long 117掳 or in So. California at December 18, 2009. I think it's southeast? Or wrong? Can't make out star chart, looking for constellation Scorpio?Unfortunately, the constellation Scorpio is up during the day at this time of year and isn't visible. The best time for viewing the constellation at night is during the summer months. By mid-July Scorpio forms a very distinctive-looking giant fishhook in the southern sky. By late fall Scorpio sets about the same time as the Sun and won't be easily visible again until next summer.

I hope that helps. Good luck! Can't make out star chart, looking for constellation Scorpio?1) There is no constellation called "Scorpio." The correct name for the constellation is Scorpius.

2) The Sun is currently in Sagittarius, quite close to Scorpius, so that Scorpius is lost in the Sun's glare. Scorpius will become visible just before sunrise in another month or so.Can't make out star chart, looking for constellation Scorpio?Hi... You should be able to see Scorpio around noon, if you'd turn off the Sun! Scorpio is a very visible constellation in the southern sky on mid Summer evenings, though, when the Sun is down and the sky is dark! Antares is a bright, orange-red star in Scorpio, quite visible. With binoculars, there is a great star cluster just to the West of Antares. Can't make out star chart, looking for constellation Scorpio?

Why are you looking this direction at this time of year? What is your reference?
