The dullest star is so boring that no one has ever bother to name it, However it is in the constellation of Narcolepsy. For obvious reasons it difficult to get good observations about it.Which is the dullest star and which constellation is it in?Astronomers don't use the term "dullest" to refer to stars.

And that depends on whether you mean the dimmest we can see (apparent magnitude), or the dimmest in absolute terms (absolute magnitude).

The dimmest that the human eye can see without aid is apparent magnitude 6.5.

YES, it's a confusing and antiquated system but the higher the magnitude the dimmer the star! Just one of those "traditions" of Astronomy that never seem to die.



It's not really a star (although it looks like one) but the Great Nebula in Orion's belt is a 6th magnitude object.

It's a little hard to figure out which constellation has the dimmest "visible" star because we only seem to think much about the brightest ones but I wouldn't be surprised if Cancer "The Crab" took the prize. Even the constellation itself is pretty hard to pick out. And it does have a 4.5 magnitude star called Iota Cancri with an even dimmer companion star that has a 6.5 magnitude which someone with fine eyesight in optimal conditions "might" be able to see.
