Someone said "the sun starts in the constellation virgo, and then..." what does that mean?

and i dont mean a horoscope. means that the sun starts its year in the constellation virgo? is that what that means?Someone said "the sun starts in the constellation virgo, and then..." what does that mean? The fall equinox is in Virgo. Some calendars (e.g. Jewish) have important dates around then.

Who is this someone? It might help figure out what (if anything) they're talking about.Someone said "the sun starts in the constellation virgo, and then..." what does that mean?As the earth rotates, it makes it seem that the sun is moving across the sky, but the stars (i.e. constellations) seem in a fixed position because they are so much farther away. So apparently the sun moves across the constellations as we spin. While all this is going on the earth (the vantage point) is moving around the sun a little bit (1/365th) each day, so the "fixed' backdrop of starts changes gradually over time too.Someone said "the sun starts in the constellation virgo, and then..." what does that mean?As the Earth moves around the sun, it looks as if the sun moves around the Earth. But the stars are far away, so they don't appear to move much. (The nearest ones do move, a little: that's called "parallax.") So during the year, it looks as if the sun swings around the sky along a path called "the ecliptic," which runs through several constellations, including Virgo.
