Why is anything placed in the sky? How are we humans supposed to know? Why was the musca constellation placed in the sky ?The constellation of Musca was originally created by Petrus Plancius from the stellar observations of Dutch sea navigators Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman when exploring the southern hemisphere.

Well for one thing,

a constellation is a cluster of stars arranged to look like something,

Without stars you don't have a constellation.

Therefore if there is a constellation, it will be in the sky somewhere.

If you're looking on this planet, you are doing something wrong. Why was the musca constellation placed in the sky ?To keep the firmament in balance. Why was the musca constellation placed in the sky ?
Musca means The Fly and it lies at the foot of the Southern Cross (Crux). It was introduced at the end of the 16th Century by Dutch navigators called Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Hout. (this period was the time that naming the new Southern Hemisphere constellations was all the rage) It was originally called Apis, the Bee. There is not much of note in the Fly other than part of the dark Coalsack Nebula which spills over from Crux.

I assume that it was placed in the sky in honour of these navigators, as it lies in a fairly barren part of the visible Southern Sky with the brightest star of the Fly being (alpha ) Muscae having a magnitude of magnitude of 2.7.
For something that Scorpius can feed on.
