For whom was the constellation leo named after and why?

In Greek mythology, the Nemean lion that Hercules killed as one of his 12 tasks. Hera placed the lion in the sky to honor him.





But Leo was previously known to the ancient Egyptians, who worshiped lion gods, and so did the Babylonians.
