What is the most know constellation?

My guess would be that Orion is the most well known constellation. Many people know the Big Dipper, but that's an asterism, part of Ursa Major, which people don't really know. And, Orion is visible from the Southern Hemisphere as well as the North.

What is the most know constellation?Probably Orion. It is near the celestial equator so at least part of it can be seen over the whole planet. It is also dominant in the sky, containing several bright stars. And the three-star "belt" is very easy to recognize.

You hear more about the constellations of the Zodiac, but most people only know these from astrological references and wouldn't be able to point to any of them in the sky. Gemini, Scorpius, and Sagittarius are easy to spot, though.

I did not include the Big Dipper (Ursa Major), because it is so far north. People do know the dipper but many are unfamiliar with the fact that it is part of the constellation Ursa Major. Much of the southern hemisphere can't see it. But then a very small portion of the world's population is in that zone, so....What is the most know constellation?I would have to say Orion. It's a bright collection of recognizable stars, and, being located at the celestial equator, can be visible from any point on earth.

If you limit it to just the Northern Hemisphere, Ursa Major might be pretty well known, but most people only know the "Big Dipper" (or "Plough" for those British chaps) asterism and not the actual complete constellation. What is the most know constellation? Not sure what you mean by "most know constellation".

Do you mean most known or most well-known? Since there are 88 constellations it could be any, but most people in the northern hemisphere can find Ursa Major (where the Big Dipper is located) or Ursa Minor (where the North Star Polaris is located).

In the winter, most northern observers can also find Orion. What is the most know constellation?
Orion or Ursa Major or Minor
