However, most stars are expected to have planets orbiting them. There are about 100 billion stars in the milky way, and 100 billion plus galaxies in the visible universe. That's a LOT of planets. Scientists don't have a clue why earth sustains so much life but can only guess and focus on areas that fir these guesses. Some say we need an earth-like planet with a moon similar to ours, a very rare occurrence. Almost impossible to find on purpose.
