Why is Aquarius constellation visible during winter?

During the coarse of a year the sun moves across a path known as the ecliptic. This imagined line runs through a group of constellations known as the zodiac. Aquarius is visible during the winter because the sun is in a roughly opposite position at that point. Remember that the stars are "up" all the time, but during the say the sunlight blinds us to them since the sun is so much great in magnitude.

If you look at the constellations along the ecliptic, you'll notice they correspond to the "signs" in astrology. Originally the thought was that your personality was influenced by the constellation the sun was in when you were born. this of course, is a bunch of a rubbish. Due to precession the sun has moved along so much that your sign and the constellation don't even match.
