When and who discovered the constellation virgo.
Full name pleaseWho discovered the constellation virgo and when?Constellations aren't discovered, they're invented. Someone picks out a pattern in the stars and makes up a story about it. This has probably been going on since the invention of language. Many ancient cultures recognized the pattern we know as Virgo, including the Indians, Egyptians, and Babylonians. Interestingly, many of them associated the pattern with a fertility goddess or other female deity.
The patterns we use now evolved over many centuries, so it is impossible, for all the prominent northern constellations, to attribute them to any one person. The exceptions are the southern constellations, many of which were named by Nicolas Lacaille, and some of the minor constellations of faint stars.
Or, you could say all the constellations were invented by Eug猫ne Delporte. He produced the 1930 proposal for defining constellation boundaries that was accepted as official by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).Who discovered the constellation virgo and when?As knowledge of astronomy pre-dates written history, the full name of the first person to point out that particular pattern of stars in the night sky, isn't something you'll ever be able to know.
