Where is the constellation Scorpio in the night sky?

Depends on your location. From the United States, you can find the constellation Scorpius low in the southern sky primarily during the summer months. Currently (early April), it's at its highest around 5am DST. Early next month, it will be most visible around 3am DST. For each successive month, it's at its highest about two hours earlier than in the previous month, so by early August it will be best seen around 9pm DST. It's low in the sky, however; even from the southern states, its brightest star Antares never rises higher than about 1/3 of the way from horizon (where the sky meets the ground) to zenith (directly overhead).

A side-note; you may notice a very bright "star" this spring and summer, somewhat higher and to the right of Scorpius; this would be the planet Jupiter.

A good site that generates a sky chart for any location can be found at:

If you check out my master screen name you will see I have a little knowledge in this one...Scorpio the scorpion ..tiny creature that he is....brought down the mighty hunter Orion...who boasted that no animal could better him. The gods sent the little scorpion which stung and killed orion. To honor Orion, they place the mighty hunter in the heavens, in a hunting position, to constantly remind us how great a hunter he was. Since the little scorpion was great and felled the mighty hunter, the gods placed him in the sky as well. The only way they could do this and not anger Orion the gods placed the scorpion opposite in the sky. Orion can be seen during the winter months while Scrpio can be seen during the summer months, almost 180 degrees from Orion. This is for the northern hemisphere. He sits low in the sky so he is visable from the south, I just dont know how much or where.Where is the constellation Scorpio in the night sky?More information on your location would help expalin the answer.Where is the constellation Scorpio in the night sky?
