What has the great bear constellation got to do with the arctic?

If you draw a line through the two stars forming the far side of ursa major (Merak and Dubhe), the first bright(ish) star the line comes to is the Pole Star, Polaris. What has the great bear constellation got to do with the arctic? The star Dubhe which is the bright star about half way along the constellation sits directly above the Arctic Circle. What has the great bear constellation got to do with the arctic? Not sure why the first guy is getting thumbs downs. The Arctic is a region of the Earth's surface. Constellations are in the sky. They have nothing to do with each other.

that said, Ursa Major is a circumpolar constellation in the Arctic (meaning it never sets) but that is true for most of the northern temperate zone also, not just the Arctic. There is no *specific* relationship. What has the great bear constellation got to do with the arctic?Nothing at all.
